Instagram shoppable posts

Shoppable posts have launched on Instagram in the UK, which allows brands to tag up to 5 products in organic posts. The feature launched in the US in late 2017 and is now being rolled out to businesses in the UK.

On an account profile, shoppable posts are distinguished via a small shopping bag icon displayed on the top right corner of the image.

When you select a post or scroll through your Instagram page you will see a ‘Tap to View Products’ message or a shopping bag icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the post.

When you tap on the image, the name, the price of the product or products listed in the post is displayed. If you tap on the item details you will be shown further information about the product such as details about the product, similar items and other shoppable posts from the brand.

A ‘Shop Now’ link will go to the brand’s website to make a purchase.

To use shoppable posts, a business will need to connect their Instagram account with a shop on Facebook. The feature will continue rolling out over the next few months.
